A bit about me: My name is Evan Saenger. I was born in Cali, grew up in Indy, went to school in Philly and now I’m in Texas (of course.. where else?!) where I’m currently immersed in an invigorating medical residency program. I like to think of myself as a doctor by day and a painter/guitar-player/husband/father/general-renaissance-ragamuffin by night. I’m kind of like Batman but the bad guys are diabetes and poopy diapers and I drive a Nissan Sentra instead of a Batmobile. What you see here in my shop is my effort to share my nightly creations with people who appreciate fine(-ish) abstract art.

I have loved abstract art my whole life. My mom hung a print of a Kandinski painting in my bedroom when I was little, and I was mesmerized by it again and again throughout my childhood. While I fully subscribe to the fact that I think talking about art is a bit like describing a flavor or stating the meaning of a poem (never nearly as good as experiencing the real thing), I will nonetheless say that abstract art always serves as an invitation to the viewer to discover the world freshly. The way a flock of birds looks while taking off from the beach; or the alien shapes and colors of a supernova; or practically anything under the microscope; or the blur of a crowd at a market; or light shining through broken glass; our entire world is indeed abstract and invites us continually on an adventure of discovery. I hope my paintings might recreate the joy of this discovery for you.

Some of my paintings are on the San Antonio Artists Collective website and Etsy.com. In addition to what I’ve sold here and on Etsy, I’ve been commissioned to paint for individuals for whom I’ve created custom pieces. At the very least I promise you’ll either be entertained or mildly amused, so what do you have to lose?!

Every painting in my shop is original and hand painted by me (Evan Saenger). I use professional-grade paints, pastels, stretched canvases, canvas panels, wood panels and artist-quality paper which will ensure that every piece is of the best quality, light-fast and sure to become one of your family’s treasured heirlooms.
